Oui chef!

Right before we opened Holybelly, our path crossed Lise Kvan’s. It’s a pretty long story that I’ll save for another day but here we are, 12 months later and many covers under our belts. Life worked its magic in the best possible way when it decided that we should all meet. Our visions on food and hospitality were perfectly aligned. Sarah and Lise built that kitchen and the menu from the ground up and kept perfecting every little details of the dishes they’ve been sending out ever since.

But now Lise is moving on to her next project. I’m not entirely sure if I can get into the details but let’s just say it’s the kind of offer you can’t turn down. We’re super happy for her, truly, and we know this next episode is going to be amazing for her and her career as a chef.

While we’re sad to see one of Holybelly’s original member go, we’re excited to welcome our next cook. Staff rotation is a healthy component of every café. Each individuals bringing his/her own set of skills, experience and personality to the table, keeping the business in motion, fun, active, surprising and creative. It’s bittersweet, but it has to be done.

So as of today, we’re officially on the lookout for a full time cook. The person we’re looking for :

– Has at least two years experience in a professional kitchen.
– (As a result) works well in a busy kitchen and can handle the stress.
– Is a team player.
– Can legally work in France.
– Is punctual and reliable.
– Is not (only) in it for the pay check.
– Cares about seasonality, quality produce and sending out the best food possible.
– Has no problem taking orders from a girl.

Bonus point to anyone with a knowledge of the Melbourne café scene and its cuisine.
